Woblitzer Jukebox

New 'Bombers' mix from myself, Eccle came up with the name Tech House Bombers for the duo of me and Wobzin in his latest poster series, which is amazing as you can see. I don't personally see the resemblence but there you go. Awesome work.

Im pretty happy with this mix seeing as i just came up with it on a whim, i was just about to have a bit of a bash and i thought fuck it ill record it; and it went well. Especially seeing as a fair few of these are new tunes iv only just got into.

Tracklisting

Catz N Dogz- SF
Gui Borrato- Golden Axe
Trentemoller- Serenetti (Maetrik Bass Rework)
Lee Jones- Aria (Tiger Stripes remix)
Rodriguez Jr- Pina Colada (Voodeux's Brew Mix)
TG AKA Tim Green- Mr Dry
Paranoid Boyz- Paranoid (Todd Bodine remix)
Radio Slave- Bell Clap Dance (Slam Paragraph remix)
John Starlight- Road Rage (Popof remix)

Also a bit of random love for the Mothership label, with a remix from the labels first vinyl release from 2007 i believe, as well as a slower Catz N Dogz track from their new album. The Italoboyz's track is called Viktor Casanova, with Lee Curtiss on the remix tip. Catz N Dogz' track is called SF and is a peach. It starts off my new mix in style. Sty-EL.

Lambs Anger

Yes thats right kids. Oizo's new LP, Lambs Anger, has created a lot of hype around the net and especially here at BBWI, all anticipating that November 17th release date. I was talking to louis the other day about how there is desperate need for some new Oizo brilliance to reminisce the good times that "Half An Enit" gave us in 2006, and i have to say this is just what i wanted to hear from Mr. Oizo. Pure Brilliance. There is no one else out there like this mad French producer. I know how many of you there are that cant wait for this highly anticipated album, so heres a moderate quality taster of what to expect.

model hau5

Supposedly I havent done a post in about 2 months or something now.
So i thought id do one, (Ziggy forced me) I havent got much to write home about, Last night was Kissy sell out LIVE!! :/ at The Royal in Derby. I wanted to go because Derby is actually getting abit of a scene, finally. Not being a massive fan of kissy or his remixes, the idea of a 'live' set is not very appealing, but I was game for the 5hrs of music that would of been played. As you can guess by now, I didnt go.

Theres some pretty big names coming to Derby in the next 2 months;

- Chris lake ( I am not missing this one )
- Stanton Warriors
- Nic Fancuilli
- Simon patterson / John O'Bir
- The Presets

Its not crazy big names, but for derby its a step up from old hardhouse djs and ex ibiza funky house djs.

In other news, Worthy & Drop the lime will be killin' it tonight at Nottinghams very own Stealth, Ziggys at work till 10 and im not sure if hes game but it's a pretty good lineup so who knows!

I got the chance to see deadmau5 play at hard to find records in birmingham this time last week, he played a 2 hour set with pioneer cdj's + his laptop set up.
Deadmau5' set was pretty electro based, not really progahau5 trance crowdpleasers,
for saying It was free, I was a meter away and he wore his mau5 head...it was a good day.

Just downloaded the new marcel woods compliation, almost excited.

Big Baby Wheezus @ Bar 15, Thursday 23rd October

Two weeks already? Super-Crazy. Anyway, its a good way to spend a thursday night, like kickin it with a little extended family of beautiful people. Well, thats the impression i get anyway. Should be some good music, good dancin', good drinks etc etc. I think im gonna record a new mix next week, but i think we need to start linkin up with the mythical hype machine before i do the next one. Keep them special and all that.
Anyway, im sure everyone remembers a few weeks ago when i was gushing over Reboot and his productions; now its time for fellow 'new hot producer' Johnny D. Well, actually, i don't want to post 'Orbitalife' because its got way too much love from everyone, and you can hear it on practically every mix cd released in the last three months from Luciano to Mathias Tanzmann. However, this Delete (AKA Sergio Munoz) remix of 'Soleil' is really tasty in a mid paced house-y kind of way so i thought i'd put it up.

ps. when i was searching for pictures of the Johnny D 'Soleil' ep i found this humorous picture and wanted to share. Hearty laughter at the 'Magda make the tea' mug.

hookerz, blow and top ten trakz

hey team
apologies for the lack of posting. i went through a week of not listening to any music apart from Calexico's 'Garden Ruin' album and then i blew up my left speaker yesterday. So its back to the old headphones for a few days until i find my toolbox and take it to pieces and find out whats come loose or whatever.
Before i come to 'that music that makes people jerk around on dancefloorz', it has to be said that Garden Ruin is one of the best albums ive ever heard. And i listen to too much music. Its the real deal people. It needs to be bought. And iv just checked and its like 6 bo on http://www.amazon.co.uk/. good stuff.

On to Hookerz N Blow. No, not just a fun way to spend an evening, they are also a kick ass new producers from San Fran, the home of Dirtybird and all the bad ass bass producers like the Martin Brothers, Claude & Worthy to name just a few. Basically i first heard of these guys when they featured in Claude VonStroke's Mixmag top ten about five months ago or so, with the very track that im about to post.
Its kind of a mash up, kind of a remix of The Whistler. Before the collective groans at a) it being a mash up and b) it being a mash up of an old/overplayed track, just give it a listen.
Claude opened with it when i saw him play at the Dirtybird label party in London in July, and its sick as fuck. It features Too $hort for one, and DJ Assault for another, and its well produced and sounds bad ass. The guys also have a track on the new mix Riton did for this months Mixmag, the full title of which is 'The Martin Brothers- Dum (Hookerz N Blow Short Bus Acid remix)' and is no where to be found on the web or anywhere else. I hope they do some kind of dirtybird EP soon as itll go off. HIGHLY recommended.

Other Tings
The resurrection of Tocadisco is quite amazing really, seeing as David Guetta pretty much killed his credibility in one fell swoop with that 'Love Dont Let Me Go' track a while ago. Plus he only got paid like £500 for that remix when Guetta made a shitload. Anyway his recent stuff since Shrine has been really good, in particular his remix of Dirty South's 'The End' and his latest mix of the Sultan track 'Protection'. Good tech with high end production = bomb. The Dirty South mix has ended my last few sets, and manages to get away with using a cheeky Doors sample and not being shit. Impressive.

And finally, top ten tunes of mid-October from yours truly
Z10
1. Claude VonStroke vs. Too $hort- Blow The Whistler (Hookerz N Blow edit)
2. Deadmau5- Clockwork (Original Mix)
3. H.O.S.H- Ben Johnson
4. MGMT- Of Moons, Birds & Monsters (Holy Ghost! remix)
5. Jurgen Kirsch- Rain in Osaka
6. Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts- I Was On My Way To Hell
7. Maus & Stolle- Adore (Meat & Reboot remix)
8. Martin Brothers- Dum (Hookerz N Blow Short Bus Acid mix)
9. Surkin- Kid Gloves (Bobmo remix)
10. Rodriguez Jr- Pina Colada (Maetrik Sweetener remix)

Hail to the King

Khan that is!

not that khan!

Been as the other three blogeurs have got hip hop/electronic music pretty much pinned down i thought that i'd concentrate on novelty tracks and guitar based stuff.

It struck me as being a bit wierd that this track from King Kahn is missing from the hype machine, i mean this guy balls to the wall rocks. If you can find his new album then go out in your ford mondeo right now or get the bus and buy it. it rules.

The track i am actually gonna post up is from a split LP put out with the dirtbombs, no diss on the dirtbombs but they feel a bit killer/filler. whereas the King Khan tracks are 100% pure fried gold on toast. Take a trip mite be the best of them all, its got a great party vibe and makes me wanna get smashed on tequila! i love anything that goes 'YEAAH YEAAHH YEAAHHH' or naaaa naa naaaaa or any kind of three noise nonsense (i even love CHK CHK CHK/!!!) and this track is one of the best 3 noise soings. Three is a special number, three wise men, holy trinity, three musketeers, 3 (good) star wars films, 3 little pigs, 3 men and a baby, the list of good three based things is literally endless, okay heres the song (right click and save as):

Also like to give big props to the notorious Z.I.G. and louis who had to fill in for wob at the BBWI presents nite which was a resounding success! good times TM

Ziggy and Wobzin @ Bar XV 09/10/08

Myself and the enigma that is Wobzin are bringing Big Baby Wheezus to Bar 15 (or XV if like me your prefer roman numerals) in Burton on Trent. Seeing as i have just spent the couple of hours advertising around town i thought it would be a waste not to mention it on the blog itself.
Although it is not the first time we have djayed at Bar XV but im seeing it as kind of like a new beginning now that we have the blog up and running and are on thursday nights, which should be a hell of a lot of fun.
Props to Feesh for the artwork, which are all technically collecters items seeing as there are only a few of each and that for the next night we will be working on some different original artwork. I am (literally) in his debt. Also thanks to the various small business owners who helped me out by letting me advertise the night in their shop windows etc. Even the sly afrodiziac who charged me for the priviledge. Anyway, enough about the night, it should be a good time for all involved and hopefully there will be many more Big Baby Wheezus events a-happenin' in the near future. Oh, and before i forget for a second time, it starts at 11pm and is on til 3am. So apologies for friday morning. There is also a facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=82869015626&ref=mf

I also want to talk about two producers, although one is actually two. How confusing i hear you say. Well, the two producers are Reboot and Two Armadillos. Two Armadillos is actually Giles Smith and King Roc, hence the two as one stuff. Reboot is a producer who until very recently i was almost completely in the dark about; he makes house thats so minimal in terms of structure, but contains the bump and groove of house as opposed to the...coldness of some minimal techno. I first heard his remix of Guy Gerber's Disorientation a few weeks ago and have to admit i didnt like it much at all. However, when i purchased his '20 cubans' remix of MANDY & Booka Shade's 'O Superman' this all kind of changed. I still don't know why i like it; it doesn't possess many of the characteristics of house/techno music that i like, but theres something so hypnotic and broken about it. I'd listen to it more, but its 14 minutes long and i don't have an ipod so im kinda screwed on that front. Reboot= Good.

Two Armadillos also = Good; but they are quite different. They make deep, warm house music that it almost seems a shame to dance to, its so nice you just want to wrap yourself in it and sit down. However, they are very far from chill out music, and there is a very good house groove to their music. I'm rambling and talking shit, so here's a new track by Two Armadillos called Hamlin, from the new Steve Bug 'Bugnology' cd, which in its unmixed form is like a treasure trove of deep house and techno. I think i prefer the track Nostalgia which is out now on Buzzin' Fly; but both are very good tracks and show that no matter what music they make, Smith and King Roc are exemplary producers

Bonus Two Armadillos, no bonus Reboot. Yet...

Oh yeah, and Style of Eye/Andy George is tonight at Stealth in Nottingham, and i for one will be there. Me, Louis, and Ken Wong.

Get HYPE

Wednesday 1 October 2008

no new music from me today

well, at least not any that i am gonna e-share, i got the johnny flynn album and its okay but its 100% more the kind of thing my chick likes than me, same goes for noah and the whale, its what my chick digs so she has had both of those.  I'm a serial viva radio caner and recently its been more of the same in terms of what i have been enjoying, 'N.soul' and 'Get low' are prolly my two favourtie shows and i love whacking on an archived show and chillaxing in my room.

Heard this carole king track on the radio the other day and thought 'this is the shit i'm talking about', so i'll post it up here. much like darth vader, carole king has a black set of vocal chords but is white, go figure! She looks a lot like my morman ex housemate both facially and also in what she is wearing in this video (think princess leia in the ewok village).

The next thing i wanna talk about is a track by 'rare earth', the weather sucks ass round here at the minute making anyone who has got SAD feel shit, in fact all of us are getting starved of vitamin D at the moment and probably wishing it was sunny and happy.

anyway the point is that celebrate by rare earth is maybe the most uplifting song of all time (can you feel it by jackson 5 perhaps got a stake in here too, i aint sure please get in touch if you have any other suggestions). this track was made famous thanks to a sampling by beck (who my mate assures me is the coolest white guy currently alive, exsisting as a kind of anti-zuckerberg).  anyway, this track is bound to make you happy, is it just me or does the drummer/singer remind anyone else of kuato from total recall?

enough of that, the last thing that i 100% had to get of my chest is just how fucking excellent red bull cola is!  Jesus christ, this is the most crisp clean tasting soda(y) herby complex textured tasting can of pop i have ever drank, goodbye san pellegrino orange, i have a new love.  the whole consumer experience is fantastic, awesome packaging (the ring pull has a punched out bull shape rather than the crappy oval your oh so depressed by on lesser cans) and i am sure that the sound the can makes when you crack it open has been made better, some how amplified and crisp reflecting the great taste.  Point im making is, red bull cola hype train starts here.

goodbye from me.

Welcome to the Re-Up

welcome to the re-up, gang

basically this post is an excuse for several different things; to re post the second of my mix series that i did which i previously had uploaded on zippyshare (before i realised that they only last like two weeks before being removed), to post a few new/ish tracks im feelin', and to counteract the fact that my co contributers are currently sitting on their cocks and not posting. haha.

Finally, because Boys Noize have just released their BNRvol1. cd with all the greatest hits from the first four years of the label, i'm going to post my favourite Boys Noize release, possibly ever. And funnily enough it isn't a ridiculously harsh distortion fest, its all acid house waves and coolness.
