Ziggy and Wobzin @ Bar XV 09/10/08

Myself and the enigma that is Wobzin are bringing Big Baby Wheezus to Bar 15 (or XV if like me your prefer roman numerals) in Burton on Trent. Seeing as i have just spent the couple of hours advertising around town i thought it would be a waste not to mention it on the blog itself.
Although it is not the first time we have djayed at Bar XV but im seeing it as kind of like a new beginning now that we have the blog up and running and are on thursday nights, which should be a hell of a lot of fun.
Props to Feesh for the artwork, which are all technically collecters items seeing as there are only a few of each and that for the next night we will be working on some different original artwork. I am (literally) in his debt. Also thanks to the various small business owners who helped me out by letting me advertise the night in their shop windows etc. Even the sly afrodiziac who charged me for the priviledge. Anyway, enough about the night, it should be a good time for all involved and hopefully there will be many more Big Baby Wheezus events a-happenin' in the near future. Oh, and before i forget for a second time, it starts at 11pm and is on til 3am. So apologies for friday morning. There is also a facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=82869015626&ref=mf

I also want to talk about two producers, although one is actually two. How confusing i hear you say. Well, the two producers are Reboot and Two Armadillos. Two Armadillos is actually Giles Smith and King Roc, hence the two as one stuff. Reboot is a producer who until very recently i was almost completely in the dark about; he makes house thats so minimal in terms of structure, but contains the bump and groove of house as opposed to the...coldness of some minimal techno. I first heard his remix of Guy Gerber's Disorientation a few weeks ago and have to admit i didnt like it much at all. However, when i purchased his '20 cubans' remix of MANDY & Booka Shade's 'O Superman' this all kind of changed. I still don't know why i like it; it doesn't possess many of the characteristics of house/techno music that i like, but theres something so hypnotic and broken about it. I'd listen to it more, but its 14 minutes long and i don't have an ipod so im kinda screwed on that front. Reboot= Good.

Two Armadillos also = Good; but they are quite different. They make deep, warm house music that it almost seems a shame to dance to, its so nice you just want to wrap yourself in it and sit down. However, they are very far from chill out music, and there is a very good house groove to their music. I'm rambling and talking shit, so here's a new track by Two Armadillos called Hamlin, from the new Steve Bug 'Bugnology' cd, which in its unmixed form is like a treasure trove of deep house and techno. I think i prefer the track Nostalgia which is out now on Buzzin' Fly; but both are very good tracks and show that no matter what music they make, Smith and King Roc are exemplary producers

Bonus Two Armadillos, no bonus Reboot. Yet...
