i dont want to sleep..

Two mixes in a month you say?
indeed, i bought some new phillips headphones for £30
so i was expecting good things after having some lower priced phillips ones,
i thought id give them a try out to see how they could handle the minimal sub bass
i think they passed the test.

So heres my second mix for august, i did this because;

1 - Im pretty bored
2 - I have an abundance of new music
3 - Sample the headphones

Heres the tracklist;

Louis lil' lugger mix

fabrizio maurizi - my imaginary friend
prompt - toucan
nico diorio - shop (ahmet sendil remix)
seismal d. - komnat (original mix)
2020 soundsystem - psycho (burnski remix)
sasha - park it in the shade (dimitri nakov and gabes park it in the deep end dub)
steve angello & sebastian ingrosso - partouze (funkagenda remix)
jona - antipiano
noir - troya (original mix)
dj koze - I want to sleep (original mix)
mark knight & funkagenda - man with the red face original club remix

I can gladly say there are no major mess ups :]

An old school classic song remixed 'laurent garnier - man with the red face (funkagenda & mark knight remix)' is my final track, I think its a good way to end with its good build ups and heavy jazz infulence.

Heres a live preformance of the song, well the original

I have to go now my planet needs me.

Louis :]

Ziggy Mix 02: Kleine Nachtmusik

hey there everyone, i said i'd post the new mix by the end of the week, and i got it done second time around. It was originally titled 'i am not worthy', purely because i love terrible puns and it featured a lot of worthy tracks. well, two. anyway i had to re do the mix because i listened back to it and there were two little fuck ups that pissed me off so much that it ruined the mix for me, so i re did it yesterday and probably changed like half the tracks. it still begins with the track that gives the mix its title, however, so i present to you all the second mix in my mix series for this blog, 'Kleine Nachtmusik'

tracklisting after the jump

Overall im pretty happy with it. Kinda wish i hadn't jammed the sinden mix of Pretty Girls in there, that whole mini section with the new Crookers tune is easily the worst on there, but no major fuck ups anywhere really so we cool. enjoi. x z x

Doing the Unstuck

Slight change of course today, folks.
At the moment my musical antenna is split almost comically in three directions between 'dance music' like Worthy, The Cure and Lil Wayne's new album, 'Tha Carter III'.
Such divisions and split loyalties have become commonplace in music in the last few years, as the last remaining genre barriers have not so much been torn down as they have simply melted away, with bordering musical styles bleeding into one another. However, my musical taste usually goes in waves. Gamblor is the same if not worse. One week ill be bouncin' like a fool to Rick Ross and Tay Dizm and all that shit. Next week ill be praising Tanzmann and the Moon Harbour bunch and be deep into minimal/deep house. Then i have a bad day and its all indie melancholy. My first love, if you will.
BUT
This week i have been listening to two albums almost constantly. The afforementioned Carter III, and the 1992 album from The Cure, 'Wish'. Suprisingly, both albums go equally well with the art of making scrambled eggs. Weird. Anyway, Lil Wayne is in my opinion the saviour of hip hop. He might not be the best rapper alive like he claims almost constantly (not so much on the new album, but his 2007 mixtapes were full of references to this), but i think he combines lyrical ability, great production and tunes, and a fucking sense of humour better than anyone else around. He pretty much dwarfs everyone right now in terms of well roundedness. Theres an amazing mix of styles and ideas on his new album, from bangers like 'a mili' to the intensity of opener '3 peat'; from beautiful odes to his ruined city (new orleans) on 'tie my hands' to sick as fuck tunes like 'You aint got nuthin'. The latter track features an amazing verse by Fabolous as well.

'Fuck gettin yo ride pimped, you'll get hog tied bitch, have you in the trunk curled up like fried shrimp'

i might be paraphrasin' but it sounds immense. Harsh, but thats the point, mayn.

Anyway, its the don. I've also been listening to the Cure, a band that everyone knows but that im pretty sure not enough people worship. Because honest to god, this album ive been listening to, Wish, is actually a work of art. Which is hard for a pop album to be. Not pop like POP, but just really accessible in places. I mean, its got Friday I'm in Love on it, which is one of the happiest most uplifting songs ever recorded on it, but the track the precedes it on the album is actually even better. Its called Doing the Unstuck, and it gave this post its name, as well as Black Kids their career. Well maybe thats a bit harsh, but from what ive heard of them they mine a heavy seam of Cure-ness. But yeah i was a bit down last week at one point, and this song came on. Kind of defined this summer for me in a really good way. Soon i was dancing in my boxers. Good job no one was home.

Anyway im gonna get to the actual posting now.

Lil Wayne featuring Fabolous and Juelz Santana- You Ain't Got Nuthin

The Cure- Doing the Unstuck

Plus, my new 'I Am Not Worthy' mix will be done by the end of the week and ill post it asap.
